I had an amazing experience at Hotel Posada Canal Grande, thanks to the incredibly helpful staff and the beautiful location in the Santa Ana mountains. The spacious rooms offered a unique charm, though they did feel a bit outdated and lacked some modern amenities. Dining was pleasant, with delicious, fresh food available right at the hotel. Overall, this hotel served as a perfect home base for my adventures in Costa Rica.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms are spacious but feel somewhat outdated, with a regular key lock and basic furnishings. There's no air conditioning, which wasn't a problem due to the comfortable breezes, but some may prefer modern amenities.
Service
10.0
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, always available to assist with any requests. Kenny, in particular, was a standout, helping me plan activities and making me feel welcome.
Location

Nestled in a small neighborhood in the Santa Ana mountains, the hotel has a stunning view over San Jose. It's conveniently near local shops and restaurants, making it easy to explore the area.
Dining

Dining options were impressive, with freshly prepared food available on-site. The breakfast jam was a highlight, though options for vegetarians were somewhat limited.
Facilities

The hotel grounds were well kept, with a lovely pool, though limited parking was a downside. While it lacks some modern hotel facilities, the overall ambiance felt cozy and authentic.

My stay at Hotel Posada Canal Grande was refreshing and unique, a real hidden gem. The decor has an old-world charm and the staff were incredibly helpful. However, the room felt a bit humid, and the amenities were quite basic compared to larger hotels.

Rooms
8.0
My room was spacious but felt humid, lacking air conditioning. Despite that, it was comfortable with a large bed and a clean bathroom. The decor was outdated, which added to the charm, but don't expect modern conveniences.
Service
9.0
The staff were remarkably responsive to my needs, especially Kenny, whose hospitality made me feel like family. They even brought me menus for dinner to make my choice easier.
Location
8.0
Nestled in a suburban area of Santa Ana, the hotel is close to several little shops and Italian restaurants. Plus, it's not far from the airport, making it convenient for travelers.
Dining
8.0
I enjoyed a lively breakfast outside by the pool, and the tiny restaurant served great food. However, I recommend adding a bit more for a more substantial breakfast.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had a lovely garden and outdoor areas, but it lacked some modern facilities. It’s more like staying in someone's personal home than a traditional hotel.

My stay at Hotel Posada Canal Grande was a good experience filled with comfort and charm. The location was peaceful, offering beautiful views, while the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. However, the lacking amenities and somewhat dated decor kept it from being a perfect stay.

Rooms
8.0
My room was large and clean with good ventilation, but the lighting was quite dim. I appreciated the quilt at night and the spacious shower room was fantastic.
Service
9.0
The service was really good, with friendly staff responding to our needs and providing us with helpful recommendations.

I enjoyed the meals, especially the breakfast with homemade marmalade. There were limited options, but I found the food to be well-prepared and satisfying.

The amenities were basic, with no A/C or mini-fridge, which may be a drawback for some. However, the pool was refreshing, and the atmosphere was rustic and inviting.

I had a good stay at Hotel Posada Canal Grande. The charming atmosphere and the spacious room with great views were highlights. However, the Wi-Fi was unreliable during my visit, which was a bit of a letdown.

Rooms
8.0
My room was huge and provided good cross ventilation, though it did feel a bit damp due to humidity. The comfy bed and large bathroom were definite perks.
Service
10.0
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready to accommodate my requests. They even brought menus to review before dinner, which I appreciated.
Location
8.0
Nestled in the Santa Ana mountains, the location offered lovely neighborhood walks and magnificent views over the city. It felt safe, and getting around was easy with local transportation.
Dining

The continental breakfast was free, but I found I had to pay for a fuller breakfast if I took too much. The food downstairs was tasty and cooked to order, enhancing my dining experience.
Facilities

The hotel grounds were well-kept, with a refreshing pool, though I found the pool area not very inviting this time. I could also see some maintenance could be improved.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Posada Canal Grande. The atmosphere was peaceful and friendly, but I found the WiFi a bit unreliable at times and the lighting in the room to be quite dim. Overall, the hospitality and charming surroundings really made my experience special, and I'd absolutely consider returning.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were large and well-ventilated, perfect for enjoying the natural breeze. While I appreciated the spaciousness, the lack of A/C and the occasional humidity were noticeable. I did find the pillows to be a bit flat, but that was a minor detail in an otherwise comfortable space.
Service
10.0
The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were always available when I needed assistance, whether it was for dinner arrangements or local tips. Their warm approach made my stay feel more welcoming.
Location
9.0
Situated in the suburbs of Santa Ana, the location offered beautiful views of the city and mountains. It felt secure and secluded, although it wasn't exactly walkable for getting to nearby shops or attractions. However, using Uber was convenient and affordable.
Dining
8.0
The meals were freshly prepared and quite satisfying. I especially loved the homemade jam for breakfast. Though the breakfast options were limited, they were well cooked. I appreciated the local flavors during my meals.
Facilities
7.0
The pool was refreshing and well-maintained, providing a great place to relax. The overall facilities felt a bit dated and had room for improvement, especially regarding amenities typically found in other hotels. However, the charm of the place made up for it.
